Dow Jones Industrial Average

APRIL 23, 2019

The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 145.34 points, or 0.55% to close at 26,656.39 and was the lagger of the day. It is well above its key 50- and 200-day moving average lines, a sign of strength. Strong earnings results from components Coca-Cola and United Technologies contributed to the index’s gains.

Russell 2000

APRIL 23, 2019

Small caps outperformed, sending the Russell 2000 higher by 25.05 points, or 1.61%. After finding support at its 50-day moving average and crossing the longer-term 200 line, it closed at 1,585.09 in range with previous sessions and remaining within the horizontal channel. Yet, the action showed the risk-on sentiment in the market today.
