Who we are
If you do not agree to these documents, you should immediately cease use of this site.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
We only collect information about you if we have a reason to do so – for example, to provide our services, to communicate with you, or to make our services better.
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
The information is sent as email messages that only a select few are allowed to access. The information is also stored in the database on our hosting server for backup and later reference purposes. We do not use the information submitted for marketing purposes.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
At checkout, we will collect your name, email address, username, and password. This information is used to setup your account for our site. If you are redirected to an offsite payment gateway to complete your payment, we may store this information in a temporary session variable to setup your account when you return to our site.
Below, you will learn how you can prevent these cookies from being stored however, this may downgrade or ‘break’ certain elements of the sites functionality.
You can prevent the setting of cookies by adjusting the settings on your browser (see your browser Help for how to do this). Be aware that disabling cookies will affect the functionality of this site and many other websites that you visit. Therefore it is recommended that you do not disable cookies.
The cookies we set
Third party cookies
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
We use Google Analytics, which is a web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic. Google uses the data collected to track and monitor the use of our website. This data is shared with other Google services. Google may use the collected data to contextualize and personalize the ads of its own advertising network.
Who we share your data with
This site uses SendGrid for sending email newsletters. SendGrid is a cloud-based service that delivers transactional and marketing emails.
This site uses PayPal as a gateway for payments. PayPal is a service that offers you a secure and easy way to pay online.
Where we send your data
We use Akismet anti-spam service to automatically detect spam comments. The information includes the commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and website URL (along with other information directly provided by the commenter such as their name, username, email address, and the comment itself).
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or ask to delete their personal information at any time. Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
How we protect your data
We adopt appropriate data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of personal information, username, password, transaction information and data stored on our website.
We use encryption on checkout pages to insure a safe connection. To understand how it works, please consult the following page.
What data breach procedures we have in place
If we experience a privacy breach, we promise to disclose it as soon as possible, and provide email notifications to all affected (or, possibly affected) users.
